Me, the Merry Maid

Tonight I was a bit grumpy as I was putting clean sheets on the children's beds, they were busily getting ready for bed. I said aloud, hoping someone would hear me and understand my woes, "I am merely the maid."
Maisie responded just as quickly as ever, "Oh, Mom! You are the best maid, EVER!"
I laughed because I had been heard, just not in the way I had expected.
Here is today's laundry. Proof of my merry duties.

Not only was I the maid today, and everyday, but I was the chief artist, as well. Here is Meg's book report project on Francis Scott Key -- her assignment was a sculpture.

Babcock Baby #6

Yep, I am excited to announce the expected arrival of yet another Babcock baby. Baby is due the first week of school this fall, convenient, eh?
Of course we are all thrilled. Nick tells me everyday that I have a fat tummy. Maisie prays that the baby will arrive SOON. Andy allows me to fall asleep everyday during his homework reading assignment. Meg entertains the younger four every time I need a nap.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday. Although it is my favorite, I am not foolish enough to think that it will be a romantic day -- and it wasn't. Nick puked all morning and afternoon. I suppose that says it all. Austin did come home with flowers and doughnuts for me. The other four children are still healthy and that is enough romance to fill my soul. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are in fine form; I was able to delve into their world for mere moments, but it was enough.

Dearer Than Any Other

Please read Natalie's post then add these pictures as you adore our heroine along side us. Mom's party was a chocolate fountain and caramel dipping fest. Uncle Mike bought his fountain, everyone contributed food, and Cherie provided for the ultimate party spot.

Neglect

Don't give up on me -- many changes of late. I'm hoping to update our world this week. My blog is the easiest thing to neglect when everything else in my world either has a voice box, or is packed in a box.

Maddie Part II -- Sprite or Imp?

Just 14 hours after that last post, Maddie came walking upstairs and into the kitchen completely covered in vaseline. Her body was not just shiny, but textured! I carried her back to the scene of the crime, thought about snapping a picture, but I then was covered in lubricant, and I didn't want to ruin my camera.

Same day, she relocated Grandma's silverware for about an hour. Do you think it is still clean?

Maddie

The person in our family that will change the most this year is Maddie. Just this month she has added a few words to her vocab: "Potter," "HELP!" (which she uses when she wants out of her high-chair or her ipad program gets stuck), and the sounds the letters "t" and "o" make. Sunday she recognized the pictures on the wall at church and labeled the people in them perfectly.

Her favorite past times are washing dishes, coloring, holding her baby, and playing ipad.

I simply love the fact that she fits in the sink. And that she never goes to nursery -- she sleeps in my arms instead.

Reading List

Although I have not been blogging, I have been reading. This month I read the last three books in the Percy Jackson series and completed the History of Joseph Smith. Perhaps I should also add that the children and I have read Juney B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine and Ramona and her Father (Maisie calls it Lamoni and her Father). My hope for next month is to read a historical non-fiction.
