We had quite a big week -- Maddie raced at state, and Maisie opened her mission call. (The pictures uploaded in reversed chronological order; I'm too lazy to change them.)
Both sets of grandparents came to state with us. Grandma Kim flew in and the Babcocks drove down. Miss Maddie, the freshman, raced against huge seniors, and she did so well.
Maddie's coach was basically her father this year. He gave her workout times, meet goals and racers to track down. All of her races were prelims, and she didn't make the finals on any of them, but she raced so well. Luckily we packed a cooler full of food and drink, so we were pretty content. Unluckily, our school goals weren't quite reached, so there were no devices.
When all there is to do for six hours is watch the race, then you watch the race.
In and Out for the lunch win.
Thursday night we hosted the Mingus carbo load. They are a great group of kids.
The chef.
Ryan and Eddie found Austin in the newpaper this week.Activity Days for Ryan -- he drew a dancing nacho chip. He practiced; it shows.
For the first time in 11 years, we visited all the animals at the fair. Tons of our church youth had animals, so it was fun to chat with them. (I came home with lots of poop on my shoes. Bleck.)
Maisie opened her mission call -- New Hampshire, Manchester mission, English speaking. Once it soaked it, she declared, "It's the perfect mission for me. I'm already getting English major vibes."
She didn't want a crowd, so we were just a tiny family. So sweet. She also reported this week, "I've changed since watching roommates only eat cereal and pretzels. I like kraut!"
My plants are glorious.
Peaches are my favorite, and our trees are laden with them.
I harvest fresh lettuce, broccoli, cabbage, and kale daily.
Molly finished her GRADE 2 Arithmetic book! She's 10 lessons ahead of the boys, and she's very smug about it.
I corcheted two Christmas cactuses; I'm very smug about it.
Andy reported, "I think I just watered a plastic plant."
