"Captain Scallywag"

When Lyndsey and Matt were married in August of 2001, my mom made Meg a dress out of the left over frabric from my bride's maid's dress. She even had enough fabric to make a hat. At the time Mark was 5, and when he saw Meg in her darling dress and hat, he exclaimed, "It's Captain Scallywag!"

Yesterday Maddie wore that same dress and hat to church, and I couldn't help but post Meg and I at the wedding in 2001, and Maddie and I after church yesterday. (Meg was the photographer of choice yesterday, shockingly enough Austin was still at church. Yesteday's events actually escallated into events I am to embarrassed to post.) I really think Maddie looks a lot like Meg, and these two pictures show their similarities perfectly.

Swingin' Summer

The three little ones and I have spent many summer mornings swinging. We all love the fresh air and smell of freshly cut grass. The morning ends with Nick's potty break in the grass and the need to pick up Andy from school.

Dr. Babcock

Maisie visited our dentist today. She is our first child with a cavity, but I suppose it had to happen. All went well, especially because Maisie loved the nitrous, and because the lovely ladies at the office are so nice.

Baby-Wised!

The crying in this picture does not suggest a happy baby, however, Maddie has now slept for 9+ hours three nights in a row! All three nights I have awakened to check on her, and she is happily sleeping in her crib. Hooray for baby-wise tactics and schedule. Maddie's daddy couldn't be more thrilled, either.

Lake Kanopolis

Saturday afternoon we spent 9 hours boating on Lake Kanopolis. We each had a turn skiing, wake-boarding and tubing. Austin and I were certainly surprised that Maisie was such a dare devil, and the Nick had the guts to be pulled behind the boat as a solo skier. Maddie loved the white noise and vibration -- she slept the entire time.

First Day of School

Meg started 3rd grade yesterday, and Andy started kindergarten today. I did get a bit teary as I walked the children to their classes. Maddie-baby continues to sleep through it all.

Last Summer Morning

This morning is my last morning before school starts tomorrow. I've been wanting to post our vacation to Utah and California for the past two weeks but just haven't done it, until this morning.

I took a million pictures, but really only had one hour to post my favorites. Here is our summer adventure. Love to all my fam, I'm missing you already.

5 K

Every year Highland puts on the "Highland Fling." Pretty much it's a town celebration with rides, booths and traditions. Rachelle, Ashley, Kimmie and I ran the 5K. Pretty much this was the hardest exercise I've ever done. I really thought I was going to die. However, I did run the entire time -- Ash and Kim were super nice to hold back for me. I suppose since my baby was barely 6 weeks old I can cut myself a little slack.

Voice Male

While driving with Ashley to Utah, I told her all I wanted to do was see a "Voice Male" concert. Funny thing is, Voice Male was at the Highland Fling, so my dream actually came true.

I also told Ashley that I wanted to catch up with my dear friend from high school, Cheltsea. And, I ran into her in Walmart and we spent a lovely morning together.

The Beach

The only place large enough and free enough for a nice Guymon family vacation is the beach. We headed to Venice beach three days and enjoyed every moment together.

California or Bust

Once in Utah, my sweet dad convinced me to stay a week longer and join the fam in the annual vacation to LA. The 15 passenger van, quite snugly, held 16 people, clothes for the week, dishes, boogie boards and food. We were crammed in. Riding this way for 12 hours is a memory that is hardly miserable. The only thing to do in this situation was laugh. Laugh we did!

Here I am sitting beside the "blow." Mom handed it to me on her way in the car, and there was no place left but beside me on the seat.

This is the town my dad's mother grew up in, Panaca Nevada.

Here is her home.

Dinner time in Lancaster.
