Doubled

Today I weighed Maddie, and she weighed 10 pounds -- she's doubled her birth weight in five weeks. I love being a mammal.

Maisie helped me make dinner using only veggies from the garden. She surprised me by lining up the potatoes to make our family. Note the size deferential.

Andy's #6 Birthday

Our biggest brother, Andy, is now 6! Yesterday we celebrated by opening presents, eating lunch at Wendy's, and Andy was so nice and let me make a simple coconut cake to wish upon. He and Austin spent the afternoon learning to ride his new two-wheeler.




Maddie was asleep during the lunch-time festivities, so I took a picture after she awakened.

Babcock Grandparents

Our little family has been blessed to have both the Babcock grandparents come and stay at our house. Grandpa took the kids for walks to the park, to Walmart and to the library. Grandma also took kids to the park, Walmart and the library, she also added trips to McDonalds, Wency's and Sonic. After each outting the kids came home hot and happy. (I didn't go with them, so I dont' have any action shots, just pictures from being at home together.)


Maisie asked me this morning which grandparent was coming next.

Blessing Day

Sunday was quite an emotional day for us. Austin blessed Maddie, and Austin was called to be the bishop. Needless to say, after three hours of church, we did manage to get some blessing pictures.

Independence Day

This was our first year to celebrate Independence Day in Kansas. Grandpa B was in town, so he and the kids used chalk to show our allegiance. I never knew his artistic talents were so defined!



The girls and I made a festive cake.


We spent the evening swimming, lighting our own fireworks, and watching the town's display.

Two Weeks

This morning Nick and I took Maddie in for her two week check-up. She now weighs 6 pounds 8 ounces -- she's gained exactly a pound and a half since we brought her home. Nick still "rocks" her crib while she sleeps. Andy steals kisses about 8 times a day. Maisie holds her whenever Maddie is "available." Meg simply picks up all the pieces by singing lullabies and gently rocking Maddie.

Five kids in theory seems managable, but there are moments when three or more are simultaneously crying, and that's when life around here gets tricky. I just hope in every crisis that all the criers know I love them and will get to them shortly.
