May Fete

Every year our county has a huge festival. Our girls danced in it this year. Meg was a perfect little dancer, and Maisie was the token dancer that the entire audience laughed and clapped for. Here is video of their dances -- Maisie is recognizable by her curls, her short stature, and the fact that she danced backward the entire performance.

Testimonies

Sunday during our main meeting Meg bore her testimony. I loved hearing her speak about her upcoming baptism and testify of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. She sat down and Maisie went up. Our little three year old testified of forever families. While speaking all you could see was her pink bow, until the a member of the bishopric held her up to the mic.

I really wish video cameras were appropriate for church, because testimonies and primary talks are so special.

Hannah Montana

Friday afternoon I took the girls to see the new Hannah Montana movie. Shockingly enough we were the only ones in the theater, which was lucky because about half way through Maisie was bored and wanted to go home, but instead she ran up and down the aisles. Meg and I enjoyed the innocent movie filled with songs, dancing and a tough of romance.

Friday evening the kitchen was closed, as is tradition, and Austin made dinner while we were gone. He cut their hot dogs and arranged the pieces into faces, I added the ketchup hair, to which all parties were thrilled.

French Fries and French Tips

Andy reminded me that we needed to return our "red box" movie this morning, so away we went. Because the red box is in McDonald's parking lot, I surprised the kids and bought two small fries, a truly monumental moment. Hence the first portion of the title.

After school Meg asked me to French-tip her nails, I obliged and Maisie joined in the fun. I'm glad their little hands still have dimples. (Too bad we had whole wheat bread and minestrone for dinner. I know we would have all preferred some French croissants.)

Daddy's Home

Austin had his second of four ortho seminars this weekend in Kansas City. Both nights the kids and I "red boxed" movies and relaxed on my bed. Andy told me I was so nice because I even spent $8 at Taco Bell for Friday night dinner.


Today I spoke in church, of course Austin was gone, so I had to man the bench myself. We did get to church on time, and I thought the girls looked extra cute.


This afternoon the rain poured in torrents. Andy convinced Meg to run outside with him in swimsuits. After 1 minute in the rain they were soaked.

Sunday is still our day of wrestling with Daddy. I simply sit back and watch.

Happy Birthday to Austin and Nicholas!

Today Austin is 33 and Nicholas is 2! Of course Daddy went to work, and Meg went to school, so Andy, Maisie and I celebrated Nick the best we could until afternoon came.

As soon as Austin arrived home, Maisie insisted that we open presents.


Austin and I worked in the yard this afternoon while the kids "swam" in the pet pool -- it's obvious that we had fantasically warm weather today.


Cake Celebration -- I made a cheese cake for Austin, and "Cars" cupcakes for Nick. We did sing twice, and we blew out candles at least 15 times.

Spring Gardening

Too bad for all of you it's growing season again...which means losts of posts about plants. Austin has spent all winter babying his vegetables in his grow boxes. We've harvested green onions and spinach so far.

I haven't touched my rock garden yet, but Grandma's bulbs I planted last fall are up and blooming, along with the phlox and pansies.

Easter Sunday

Today we dressed in yellow for Easter Stake Conference, a regional broadcast from SLC. We've now attended stake conference in Dallas, Highland and Newton. Let's just say 6 months until it comes around again. Here are pictures after church.
