Sunday Catan -- Molly won.
Monday I flew to Utah for Allie and Hayden's wedding. From the air I could see the fire that's been raging for 10 days just outside of Sedona. Lots of our pockets canyons used for rappelling are burned up. That's very sad.Maisie picked me up from the airport, and I gifted us a caramel apple.
That was a good thing because then we were stranded. Her car shook then stopped working. We pulled off to the side of the road, and there we sat for four hours waiting for the tow truck. Whilst Maisie napped a bit, I just sat thinking and praying. When she was awake we practiced some yoga, sang, chatted and caught up. It was a bit of heaven carved out for just us. Meg rescued us with a delicious dinner and cold water.
We made it just in time for Allie and Hayden's wedding reception at the Sera Shell pool. What a fun evening of family and water. I was happily surprised when the water was warm and the company even warmer.
Meg took me back to her house and where Bea and Winnie let me sleep in their bed. I was greeted, "Grandma, I made my bed for you!" Winnie's little voice was so happy to share. Of course I kissed her all over and then just watched those two pixies, baffled by their personalities at two.
What a dream to be in the temple with Meg, Andy, Maisie and all my siblings. Uncle Trot Morden was the sealer, so that was a sweet touch to be taught by him.
The happy couple.
Aunt Jenalyn and I happened to match, so that was a win.Wedding luncheon and tablemates. We were the last to get our food, but the first to get our cookies -- the order suited me.
The Campbells and the Grandmas. Everything about the wedding was wonderful. Of course the Campbells were beautiful inside and out. Jeff's father-of-the-bride speech made was a tear jerker for sure. He could hardly express the love he feels for Allie. Sis followed him up with an invitation to be successful in life and love by being loyal and kind. SO GOOD! Of course Natalie and I clapped with gusto. (I suppose being the aunt is the easist role -- no responsibility and all the perks of being family.)
Once over, and after 30 minutes of finally sitting on mother's bed with my sisters, Andy drove me to Meg's house where we then met to celebrate Andy's birthday dinner. He and I had a chance to talk about family vacations, his upcoming wedding plans, and darling Becca. He drove me the to airport which was very kind. We, too had time carved out just for us. Meg stood the entire time navigating the twins. Elijah wolfed down his burger because Quinn kept swatting and grabbing it. That 2 on 3 under 2 is so real, but they do it so well.
Home again to these folks. This game began, "Hey, Mom! Tell me anywhere to go and I will get there with a blindfold on." He then lifted Molly onto his shoulders and off they went to the guest bedroom. Molly pulled tufts of his hair to direct him.
The week ended with avswim meet and sunshine.
Sunday we drove to St. George for get another Guymon gathering. We simply can't get enough. After a variety show and dinner for 70, we retired for the night. Early Tuesday morning 18 cousins filled the baptistry wherein 95 ordinances were performed. What a treat to organize and witness. For sure Grandpa Ron was there with us. As well as our Guymon grandparents.
Ricky suggested we two take these eighteen to donuts -- delightful.
The rest of the three days were spent in small and large groups of cousins enjoying the water park and club house. CFM every morning, primary songs, and family prayer kept us in line. It's hard to beat water and summer sun.
Home again for three hours -- just enough time to grab a pedicure and pack for Thailand. I left Meg with mounds of unfolded laundry and a closet of miscellaneous madness. Of course she graciously helped finish packing and worked with Maddie to make dinner.
I did slow down to take a picture of Quinny's first toofer. She's just so darling.
